Who Is Vancouver Safes?

We're a family owned and operated business in Port Moody BC, strictly specializing in safes and vaults. We not only provide high quality time-delay pharmacy safes but also all types of other safes for both residential and commercial applications. We're authorized dealers as well as authorized factory service providers for the brands we offer so if you ever have a question or need technical support you can trust that we're equipped to provide top-notch service and support.

What is a time delay safe and why is our pharmacy now required to have one?

A time delay safe is really any safe equipped with a time delay lock. A time delay lock is one that makes the user enter a code to start a timer, them wait a predetermined amount of time (typically 5 minutes in the case of pharmacies) then enter the code again to open the safe once the timer has expired.

 

Statistics vary by city, but generally speaking the implementation of time delay pharmacy safes has reduced the rate of pharmacy hold-ups in Canada by 82-100%. 

Many pharmacy safes look the same. How do I know which is best for our operation?

It's true, many safes look the same from the outside but their burglary-resistance and long term reliability can vary greatly, that's why Vancouver Safes only offers high quality safes from reputable manufacturers. 

 

Cheaper import safes may look like a good deal based on their low upfront price, but they won't withstand a common pry attack lasting more than a couple minutes and often basic things like handle hardware, locking bolts and door hinges will come loose, break, rub, squeak etc shortly after installation. 

 

A safe is generally a one time purchase and purchasing a quality safe will ensure years of reliable operation.

How do I know which model to choose?

This really comes down to several site-specific or operation-specific questions such as....

 

- How large do you need the safe to be in order to store your narcotic inventory?

- Are there any height,  width or depth constraints?

- Do you prefer a safe with height adjustable shelves or slide out trays?

 

Our safes range from just over 1 cubic foot, up to models the size of a fridge so

 there are plenty of options to choose from.

Does the safe lock run on batteries or do I need to plug it in?

All safe locks are designed to operate on battery power alone so you never need to have AC power available. Some safes (such as the American Security Narco models) will have the option of plugging into AC power if available so that the lock runs on AC power and will backup to batter power should the power go out.

What happens when the battery dies in the safe. Will I be locked out?

When the battery gets low in your lock it will warn you to change it. It's best to change the battery as soon as the lock indicates the battery is low. That said, the safe will continue to operate on a low battery for some time (usually about a month) however, if you neglect to change the battery, at some point it will get so low that the safe won't open and at that point it must be changed.

 

Batteries are always located outside the safe (usually on the back of the keypad) so you can access the battery in order to easily change it. Most safes take a standard 9V alkaline battery readily available in most retail stores.

What do I do if I ever want to change my code or add/delete a user?

We include programming instructions with every safe for those inclined to follow the step by step instructions. We're also happy to take a call and walk you through simple changes over the phone.

If you plan to have us ship your safe out you're welcome to checkout online and the freight rate will be automatically calculated at checkout. If you plan to have us deliver and install your safe please reach out to us directly and we'll provide a quote for the delivery and installation and process your order offline.
